Couple’s Guide to a Romantic Getaway in Gatlinburg TN

There’s no better time to plan an adults-only trip to the Smokies for a few days of rest and relaxation! From must-see attractions to the best spots for dinner and drinks, we included everything you need to know in this couple’s guide to a romantic getaway in Gatlinburg TN!

Shopping

Walking downtown Gatlinburg’s strip guarantees hours of hunting for one-of-a-kind gifts and unique souvenirs. Baskin’s Square is home to a variety of shops, including The Potter and the Park, Earthbound Trading Co., and Best of the Smokys. You can find interesting stores such as Mist Mountain Soap Company and The Hayloft at The Village, and take your time finding the hidden gems along the way! Finally, the Mountain Mall is one of Gatlinburg’s most unique shopping experiences, with 6 levels of locally owned shops, ranging from handmade jewelry to leather goods and original artwork.

Attractions

sky bridge gatlinburg For some of the best views of the Smoky Mountains, go up the Gatlinburg SkyLift! For an even more thrilling adventure, walk across the SkyBridge, the longest pedestrian cable bridge in North America. It’s the most challenging but also the most rewarding, with breathtaking views, making it an experience you’ll never forget! For a more laid-back and calming experience, spend some time in Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies. From penguins to sharks and everything in between, you’ll be amazed at the variety of marine life there is to discover. You can even venture into Shark Lagoon on a glass-bottom boat! Spend a carefree afternoon at Hillbilly Golf and have a good laugh (at your or your partner’s expense)! Challenge yourself and your partner and see who comes out on top! Situated on top of the mountain, it’s one of the most unique mini-golf courses in the area.

Exploring

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the ultimate place to spend quality time together exploring and admiring nature! Clingmans Dome offers some of the most beautiful views and is an easy (although steep) walk to the top. You could also hike to one of the many waterfalls in Cades Cove, tour some of the old homesteads and churches, and even take a guided horseback ride through the mountains! With plenty of pull-offs and picnic areas, you could easily spend most of the day captivated by the beauty and peacefulness of the Smokies. We recommend driving to the Gatlinburg Scenic Overlook on the Gatlinburg Bypass road for an unforgettable view of the town surrounded by mountains. It’s especially breathtaking at sunset!
